Mission International needs prayer all the time. We are working in areas where we face, along with those we support who are personally going through it in the developing world, many difficulties. These may seem insignificant at times for those of us who live in the relative security of the west, however they do take their toll.

One big challenge we face happens on an almost daily basis. Almost every day we receive requests from someone in the world who is asking for help. They may ask for some support in providing a water well for their community, or they may ask for a Bible or other study materials. They may ask for a team to go and help them share God's Word in their communities. Whatever it is they ask for our biggest challenge is to let them down gently as we say "no, I'm sorry we just don't have the funding, the resources or the personnel to help at the moment".

Of course there are many to whom we say yes! Our supporters and donors work hard and give well to help us to say yes more times than ever before, however when the 'no answer' is the only one available then it causes us great sadness.

Please pray that God provides us with funding, personnel and resources in such a way that we can extend what we are doing so well in the places we already work, to other new projects around the world.

Pastor Tom Opiyo - Pakistan Trip

Pastor Tom Opiyo has been invited to go to Pakistan to share the Good News there. This trip is a wonderful opportunity for him, however it is not without danger. In recent days the minister who is responsible for minority groups within Pakistan and a Christian was shot dead in his car near his home.

Please pray for pastor Tom as he makes this trip and for the many Pakistani Christians who are now facing a very uncertain future.

The recruitment, training and deployment of mission teams is a central part of the work that we do. Please pray for quality hard-working team members to apply and pray for those to whom we minister, that God would meet with them and prepare them for His service. Please also for our safety as we travel and minister in often difficult circumstances.

New Year 2011

It is at this time of year that our minds turn to the future and to what God wants of us as the New Year unfolds. It is true to say that God has been good to us in 2010 and we can be sure that His grace and favour is promised in the new year too.
Part of our service to the Lord is to pray. It is often the most difficult area of a Christian's life, making time to pray, knowing what to pray about and identifying God's will and purpose for our lives. We can be sure that if we pray God will speak to us and will guide us for the future.
As the new year opens and as 2011 progresses we would appreciate your prayers for the work in which we are involved.

Evangelism - Our mission teams make every effort to share the Good News about Jesus wherever they go. The environment is not always easy to cope with but the commitment is there to allow often un-reached people groups to know of the great love of Jesus.
Discipleship - Jesus calls us to be disciples and to make disciples. This call is so necessary in the developing world where resources for pastors and church leaders are so limited. Please pray that we can help resource in terms of teaching as well as in terms of literature to give local pastors the necessary materials to serve and teach in their churches.
Projects - Supporting the poor through small, medium and large projects is key to our purpose as we obey God's call to the world. The funding required to provide a small income generating project or a large dwelling, medical, training or educational resource is so necessary to bring infrastructure and also hope to communities in great need. Please pray that God makes a way for us to provide what is necessary in support of poor and needy communities around the world.

Teams summer 2010

Please pray for 2010 summer Mission Teams:

During July and August of 2010 there are proposed teams to Burundi, Kenya and India, then a further school team in October 2010. Please pray with us that God allows us to achieve great things as a result of these teams. Many of those who participate have little experience of a Christian team of any kind and so we would ask that you would pray for God to touch and challenge all concerned.

Please also pray that our teams are filled up and that those who are seeking support to fund their trip will be suitably provided for.

Mission Team - Burundi 2009!

Pray for the Burundi Team:
A team of 15 people will head out to Burundi on 14th July to support our partners in Burundi Rema Ministries. The team comprises a dentist, a doctor and three further medics, young people and older people and will be involved in medical/dental practice as well as evangelism, youth and children's work and training for church leaders.

Please pray for:

Safe Travel from Scotland via Amsterdam, Nairobi to Bujumbura and within Burundi for the period of 2-3 weeks.
The many who will come for medical/dental treatment that the practitioners will have the energy to treat those who come and the wisdom to know how to proceed in difficult circumstances.
Those team members who have not been to Africa before that they are not too seriously affected by culture shock.
The many who will come to hear the Gospel that they may decide to follow Jesus and that their lives will be dramatically changed.
Those who give testimony, perform songs and drama and who preach will find God's inspiration to share appropriate material.
That the Rema team (MI Partners) will benefit and be blessed by the team experience too.
A positive and safe experience for everyone involved.

Pray for Esther & Gervais as they marry:

Gervais Nyandwi a member of the Rema team is to marry Esther Donaldson a Mission International supporter and team member, in Bujumbura Burundi on the 18th of July 2009. Please pray that their arrangements go well and that the whole day is a blessing to everyone involved.

Please keep a look out and we will try to get some photos of the big day posted up for everyone to see.

Carr Family return from Burundi:

Please pray for the Carr family:
Charles & Val Carr and their three boys have recently returned from Burundi to start the next stage of their lives together in Lancaster, England. Val has already acquired a position at Lancaster University and the three boys are all safely ensconced in school, Charles however is still seeking a position where he can best use and develop his many skills in building and the use of CAD.

A church to call Home:
The family are presently seeking a place of worship too. They have visited some of the local churches already and would like to find a 'home' church which is focused on the family and local and international mission.

Teams Training Day - this weekend!

30th May '09 - Teams training Day:

Please pray for those who will be attending the Teams training Day to be held near Edinburgh on Saturday 30th May.

The 15 member team will get together to learn about their trip and how to deal with some of the issues they are likely to encounter. The team ranges in age from 16 years old to those in their 70s. The team will be involved in primarily evangelism and support to the church, children's ministry and project work.

Please pray that all of the travel arrangements work out for the trip and that as we go god will really bless us as we obey and serve Him.

Carrs return to the UK!

Return to Blighty!

Please pray for Charles & Val Carr and their family as they return to the UK. The family have spent 10 months in Burundi serving at the Mission International project The Hope Centre. Charles & Val have done a wonderful job planning, building and managing the project from the ground up, they have seen every brick made and laid and have also helped with the fundraising and raising the profile of the project and that of Mission International.

Mission International is so grateful for the selfless way in which this family has gone and served in a strange country and culture. Please pray for them as they begin their new life in Lancaster in England.

Pray for Christians in Pakistan:

Churches burned and Christians murdered in Pakistan:
News recently received by Mission International from contacts in Pakistan relate stories of Muslims meeting out cruel abuses on Christians and churches in the Punjab region. Under reporting by local press agencies and the fact that Government agencies have largely ignored the plight of the Christians and the crimes of those carrying out the abuses is further evidence that Pakistan is in a crisis.The recent reports received claim that churches have been burned down and many Christians have been killed, in particular young men, although some reports detail rape and murder of young women.

Appeal:
Mission International intends to send financial support to Pakistan to help purchase basics like food, clothing and shelter for those whose homes and churches have been sacked. Pastor Emmy Nnyanzi - Malaria:

Please pray for Pastor Emmanuel Nnyanzi:

Pastor Nnyanzi, the founder of Parental Care Ministries in Mbarara, Uganda has fallen sick with a bout of malaria, one of Africa's most dangerous and widespread diseases. Please pray that he makes a full recovery and that the ministry there is not adversely affected by his being away from work.

Resurrection Day celebration!

City Centre Christian Event:
The Caird Hall, Dundee will be the venue for one of Scotland's biggest Church events of the year. Resurrection Day '09 takes place on Easter Sunday at 5.30PM. The Caird's side hall (The Marryatt Hall will host a Ministries Fayre with stands and displays by many of the city's and country's Christian ministries.

Mission International will be there with an all new display, please come and visit us an hour before or and hour after the main event.

Burundi team - Prayer points:

Fundraising for team member as they find their fares and raise funds for projects in Burundi.
The medics on the team as they resource medicines and equipment.
Pray that the team will be spiritually prepared.
Travel and health issues throughout team deployment
REMA team Burundi that their planning and preparation will go well.
That those we work with and minister too will be blessed by God.
Many will have their lives positively changed as a result of the team experience.
Team members will return having been positively affected by their experience.

We give God thanks and praise as today (22nd of November) at 11.55am (3.55pm UK time) we welcomed into the world Joshua Alexander Holt
Cabrera (length 53cm, weight 3.6kg). Both Joshua and Claudia are doing fine after the surgery/delivery. Emma and Sara are not too sure
what to make of their new wee brother yet but were fascinated when they came to see him. Many thanks for all your prayers and messages of
support and encouragement. Claudia hopes to get home tomorrow afternoon so please pray for a good recovery.

Holt baby on the way:

Dear Friends Just a quick update on Claudia and the baby. Unless the baby comes by himself in the next 24 hours, the Doctors have scheduled a Cesarean to be carried out on Saturday (3.30pm UK time). The baby is doing fine but there are certain indicators that suggest that an intervention in the pregnancy would be preferred. Some of you may know that the 22nd is also Claudia’s birthday so this will be a lovely birthday present (apart from being operated on that is!). She is a bit anxious about the operation so I would ask that you pray for peace for Claudia throughout all of this. Please also pray for wisdom for the Doctors and a healthy and safe delivery for Mummy and baby. I hope to have some more news for you over the weekend. Thank you for all your prayers and words of encouragement. We give God thanks for you all and the wonderful knowledge of friends around the world praying for us as a family, particularly Claudia and the baby at this time. Love in the Lord Kenny & Claudia

John receives heart surgery:
John Willis, the grandson of Mission International's chairman, Victor Willis has recently gone through heart surgery. Please pray for this little baby, only a few months old who has been in and out of hospital for most of his young life. Baby John is still to have surgery but it is hoped that this can be delayed until he is older and stronger. Please pray that he recovers well and that the medical staff who are treating him are guided to provide the best treatment possible, pray also for Dad David, Mum Audrey and big sister Mya who with the rest of the family have lost a lot of sleep recently and who want to see this little one make a full and strong recovery.

Tragedy in Mbarara:

Please pray for Pastor Emmy Nnyanzi and his wider family:

On the 17th of November Pastor Emmy Nnyanzi and his daughter Grace when, part way through a tour of a number of centres in the UK, they were give tragic news from home. The son of one of Pastor Emmy's brothers was collecting water from the river nearby the Henderson School when he was swept away by the current and drowned. The tragedy has upset Pastor Emmy & Grace as well as their extended family back in Uganda.

Please pray for everyone affected by this situation especially the wife and two small children of this well liked and loved young family man.

It is with much sadness that Pastor Emmy & Grace are continuing with their UK tour.

Henderson School founder in the UK!

Pastor Emmy arrives on 11th November:

Pastor Emmy Nnyanzi, the founder of Parental Care Ministries and the Henderson School in Mbarara Uganda are about to arrive in the UK. Please pray that their trip will be a successful one as they travel throughout England, Scotland and Wales before returning to Uganda on the 30th November.

Menzieshill High School Team about to leave:

Africa Renewal Ministries (ARM):
A team from Dundee's Menzieshill High School are about to leave for Uganda, they will be based in the town of Gabba by the shores of Lake Victoria for 3 weeks. The team made up of 9 pupils 3 members of staff and a Mission International staff member will visit a number of projects within Uganda over their three week trip. ARM http://www.africarenewal.org/ is an indigenous church based ministry set up to bring relevant and lasting change to the nation. Team members will involve themselves in schools, where they will be involved with sports and science projects, and medical centres focusing on first aid.

Other projects:
Invitations for the team to visit have also come from 'Dwelling Places' a Katwe based children's rescue centre, Rock of Hope a street kid's feeding centre and Mighty Meals, Mission Internationals school child feeding project based in Bweyogerere.

Tourism:
The team will visit a number of tourist destinations like, the equator, the source of the Nile at Jinja, including the Bujagali Falls and of course the Game Park at Murchison Falls.

Pray:
Please pray that the team has a safe and successful trip. Pray also that each team member is challenged by global poverty part of which they will experience in Uganda. Please pray that each person will be challenged about how they live their lives in a western society today.

Parental Care Ministries comes to the UK!

Pastor Emmy Nnyanzi & his daughter Grace make plans:

During the month of November 2008 (a cold time of year for UK residents never mind those from Uganda) is the proposed time for a visit to the UK for Pastor Emmanuel Nnyanzi and his daughter Grace. Pastor Nnyanzi is the founder of Parental Care Ministries in Mbarara Uganda, who were instrumental in setting up and constructing the Henderson School. To find out more information about Henderson School click here.

Please pray for the success of this trip, from the acquiring of UK visas for the Nnyanzis and for travel safety as well as the raising of the profile and support for the ministry in Uganda. The pair are likely to travel to England, Wales and Scotland during their 3 week stay and already friends are asking for them to visit their place. Mission Teams preparing to GO!

Summer Teams:
There are two Mission teams heading out this summer, one will go to Burundi, where the team will be involved in Evangelism, church ministry and supporting projects for those with HIV/AIDS, and the other to India. The India team will also support churches in remote villages in Andhra Pradesh as well as work with orphan children and those with leprosy.

Please pray:

That teams are kept safe as they travel internationally as well as in country.
That they have favour with the local people and are able to share the Good news with them wherever they go.
That the team members get on well together and stay healthy whilst they are away and return home with lots of stories of God's goodness and grace.

Carr Family travel to Burundi:

A huge change for this Scottish family:
Charles & Val Carr and three of their boys will be travelling to Burundi next week. Their trip is a challenging one since they not only have to get themselves and their luggage safely there but they are also carrying with them items that they will need for the family and for their work which could not be put in their container since it will take a few weeks to arrive.

Please pray:

That they have a safe and 'uneventful' journey.
That they manage to settle in to their temporary home
That they manage to get the various pieces of 'red tape' organised without too much trouble.
That they remain safe during their time in Burundi.
That building work preparations fall into place without unnecessary hitches.

Moving up in the world:
Mission International has recently put a new web site on-line. The new site is intended to give more information about the ministry of the charity as well as make it possible for donors to give on-line too. We are delighted that Unclad Design www.unclad.co.uk have provided us with a user friendly side and one which will be of benefit to Mission International as well as those who wish to use it.
